SpaceX Starship Flight 11: Charred Landing in the Ocean! (Full Video) (2025)

Hold onto your helmets, space enthusiasts! SpaceX's Starship just completed Flight Test 11, and the footage is nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the giant spacecraft's fiery final moments before gracefully splashing down in the Indian Ocean. This test flight, the eleventh in Starship's journey, launched on October 13th from SpaceX's Starbase in South Texas. This marked the final launch of the current, impressive 397-foot-tall (121-meter-tall) version of the Super Heavy booster and Ship upper stage; a taller variant is already in the works for Starship flight 12.

Flight Test 11 was a resounding success, arguably even surpassing its predecessor. SpaceX's new video reveals significantly less stress on the vehicle compared to Flight 10, with noticeably less discoloration on the heatshield. All mission objectives were achieved, from launch to booster descent and splashdown in the Gulf, and Ship's successful splashdown in the Indian Ocean. It's the second consecutive test flight where Starship has accomplished everything SpaceX aimed for, a major step forward in the rocket's development.

The spacecraft successfully deployed a stack of eight simulated Starlink satellites and reignited a Raptor engine in space. But here's where it gets controversial... This week's launch deviated from Flight 10's mission profile with adjustments to the engine burn profiles, a crucial step in preparing for the upgraded version 3 of the rocket. The upper stage's landing burn, in particular, was modified, mimicking the approach needed for a return to the launch site, where the rocket's launch tower is designed to catch and secure Starship midair.

SpaceX cameras, mounted on drones and buoys, captured Starship's descent through the clouds in stunning detail. The video follows the vehicle as it executed its unique flip-and-burn landing maneuver, transitioning from a 'bellyflop' position to an upright orientation, as its engines oriented the vehicle and slowed its momentum.

So, what do you think about the progress of Starship? Are you impressed by the advancements, or do you have concerns about certain aspects of the design? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
